There’s something so tender and timeless about first birthday milestone sessions, and Patton’s was the perfect example of how less really is more.

When Megan, Patton’s momma, first reached out, she was considering a mini session—but after chatting and dreaming a little bigger, she saw the value in a full one-year milestone. And honestly? I’m so glad she did. These sweet, simple sessions let little personalities shine, and Patton absolutely lit up the studio with his soft expressions and easy charm.

Patton officially turns one on July 5, and to mark the occasion, we kept the styling classic: light, bright, and timeless in white and powder blue. These clean, airy tones paired perfectly with his sweet cheeks and those soft baby curls. Megan described her family as joyful, close-knit, and full of unconditional love—and every photo we captured mirrored just that.

Of course, no birthday session would be complete without a sibling cameo. Megan brought big sister Ramsay Rose along, and let’s just say she arrived ready to steal the show! Normally, Ramsay is my little stoic queen—stone-faced and not about to hand out a smile unless absolutely necessary. But this time? Megan worked her magic with a little pep talk and excitement before the session, and Ramsay showed up with smiles and the sweetest big sister energy.

We even captured a few snuggles between them that will no doubt melt Megan’s heart every time she passes them on the wall. Megan told me one of her hopes for the session was just to capture these fleeting moments—the everyday magic of this season—and that’s exactly what we created together.

It was a joy to work with Megan and her littles again. She’s one of those moms who’s so grateful and kind, always trusting me to help bring her vision to life, and she never forgets to say thank you (even when she’s probably running on toddler time and snacks herself). Her note in the pre-session questionnaire said it best: “These moments are so fleeting. I want to remember this age well.” And if you ask me, she’ll be able to do just that, every time she glances at the walls of their home.

Patton, you are so loved. And Ramsay Rose, thanks for proving me wrong and flashing that sweet little grin. I’ll never take it for granted!

If you’re considering a milestone session for your one-year-old, this is your sign to do it. Let’s freeze those giggles, those baby rolls, and those chubby fingers before they grow into toddlerhood overnight.
