Some newborn sessions go exactly as planned… and others remind us that life with a newborn is anything but predictable. Sweet Nariah Jade’s newborn session was the perfect mix of beauty, flexibility, and a whole lot of love—and I’m so excited to share her story.
Nariah’s session was a heartfelt gift from her aunt (cue the collective “awww”). It included eight carefully styled baby poses, timeless family portraits, and glam time for mom with professional hair and makeup. That’s the dream combo, right? Well—sometimes real life throws a curveball.
The day of Nariah’s newborn session, the hair and makeup artist scheduled to pamper her mama canceled with less than an hour’s notice. Amanda, my go-to miracle worker, was already booked, and despite a mad dash to find a replacement, we just couldn’t make it work in time. So, we pivoted. We kept the focus on Nariah and captured the most serene, snuggly portraits of her. Then, we rescheduled the family portion for a day when mama could feel just as radiant as her baby girl.
Our second attempt at family portraits was delayed again when Nariah had to spend some time in the NICU. Thankfully, she is now safe and sound—and oh my goodness, this girl is strong. She’s got her daddy’s features and her mama’s fierce, protective heart. You can just feel how cherished she is in every frame.
Nariah’s newborn session was designed with earthy tones and soft textures that highlight her delicate features and peaceful expressions. Her session included classic poses like the froggy, egg wrap, and criss-cross wrap, along with some dreamy crate and flokati setups. Her parents requested a mix of cream, soft brown, and natural wood accents—and the result is nothing short of timeless.
Even with the unexpected hurdles, this session is a beautiful reminder: the most meaningful moments often happen when plans go off script. Nariah’s portraits capture not just how perfect she looks, but how deeply she is loved.
